Kal\u0101kaua Gardens is launching a new educational series, titled \u201cTake Charge of Your Future,\u201d to help seniors and caregivers plan for their care.<\/p>\n

This series, which is being offered at no cost, is designed to help those who may not know where to begin or what types of questions to ask about planning for the care of loved ones and to encourage open, honest discussions within families.<\/p>\n

The first session is on \u201cUnderstanding Elder Care: Levels of Care and Care Options\u201d and will be held at K\u0101lakaua Gardens, 1723 Kal\u0101kaua Avenue, on Thursday, October 23, beginning at 5:30 pm. Refreshments will be served. Space is limited. Reservations are required. Call Kal\u0101kaua Gardens at (808) 581-2273<\/a> to register.<\/p>\n

How much help do they need and what happens when that changes? Learn about different levels of care and the various options appropriate for each level, including the associated costs.<\/p>\n

\nLaurie T.S. Adamshick, Esq., is an elder care attorney and partner in Rulon & Adamshick,
\nElder Care Law in Honolulu. For over a decade, she has focused on assisting older adults
\nand their families with the legal, financial and personal care challenges of aging. In her work,
\nshe draws on her past experience as the primary caregiver and advocate for her late parents.
\nLaurie is a Veterans Administration accredited attorney and President of the Hawaii Pacific
\nGerontological Society. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Kokua Mau.<\/p>\n
